Let me start by saying that I have never written a bad review before. This place deserves it. The terrible hostess really ruined my experience. When we walked in, there was no hello, no smile, nothing. She just said "hibachi or regular?" I couldn't understand her due to her accent and was just so taken aback at that type of greeting. I had her repeat herself three times before I could understand her, and at this point, she looked VERY annoyed and was basically barking at me. I was with my Thai husband. I am not unfamiliar with this type of accent, but she was so rude and curt that I couldn't process what she was saying. We ordered some rolls and vegetable tempura. The rolls were average, the tempura was oily and tasteless. The server was great, attentive without being too pushy and even joked around with my four yr old. After the meal, I took my daughter to the restroom. When we leaving the nearly empty restaurant the same hostess passed me and my child and looked at us and rolled her eyes and gave a big sigh. My daughter is very well behaved, she wasn't loud or even messy. I held my tongue until we got outside, and gave my daughter to my husband and went back inside. I told the hostess that our server was great but that her attitude sucked and for that reason I won't come back. She basically ignored me and played with her phone. At one point she looked away and put her hand up toward my face as if to usher me away. Its really a shame because I love sushi and this location is very beautiful, I was hoping to become a regular, but there is no way I will ever give them one more red cent. I have been to this place two other times, and it was average, so maybe the hostess was just having a VERY off day.

Fast service with pick up... The staff was friendly... Busy Friday night... Food was very good.... Tasty but the steak was a little overdone. Shrimp was great. Very good choice for local hibachi.

We made a random stop here on our way to St. Augustine and overall, it was a good experience. I ordered the Katsu Don which is a fried pork dish that the server recommended. It is supposed to be crispy pork with rice and vegetables. The problem is that one fried, they put in a tightly packed serving bowl with a tight lid. By the time it gets to the table, the steam has made the pork soggy and the crust just falls off. The flavor of everything in the dish though, was very good, so I just kept eating. My girlfriend said her sushi was very good, but that's not my cup of tea. Overall, it was enjoyable, but there's no real reason to go out of my way to return.

I have been here 3 times now and every time has been an amazing experience. The hibachi was fantastic, we've been looking for something to stand up to Kobes and this is it. The other 2 times we came for sushi and we were not disappointed. They have a great sushi selection and I can't wait to go back to try more. Nice atmosphere, clean (even the bathrooms), and the service has been great everytime. Just a wonderful over all experience here at Fujiyama.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of their vegetarian options. Delicious veggie rolls! The ginger salad dressing was average. I will definitely visit again for more veggie sushi.

This place is amazing. I have been here around 5 times and I never have to wait. The staff are very friendly and pay attention to the customers. They also have some of the best sushi ever and I love coming here. I haven't had their hibachi side but it is very amazing here. Check it out.

We are here a couple times a month and we enjoy it. The sushi is consistent and we are pretty picky when it comes to that. Hibachi is ok and the staff is quick and attentive. The owners could do without their children hosting.

I love sushi and have tried many different places but this restaurant takes 1st place. The food is just better than anywhere I've had sushi before. Just try it and you'll become a believer.

It's pretty good and the service is pretty polite, though they did mess up my order and my neighbors order (sitting next to us at the hibachi table). i think they need to coordinate the sushi bar and hibachi side a little better. all the sushi orders came out after hibachi started, and in my neighbor's case.. completely after they were done with hibachi. typically, sushi is served first. if you get hibachi, it's a cute show. the lobster & filet combo is decently priced. however, definitely get the FRIED RICE (not noodles). hibachi fried rice has much more flavor. the noodles were disappointing.

Average, really nothing special. Wait staff was good and the girls at the host stand looked depressed. The food was rather bland and our chef lacked the usual playful comedic banter that we all crave when going to a hibachi grill.

I love Fujiyama and it is definitely the best sushi in West Volusia. Even though I have probably been between 10-15 times, I have not tried the hibachi side but the sushi is delicious, always fresh and the prices are very reasonable. The Mexican bubble roll is by far my favorite and the soups are good. I go back and forth between the miso and the onion. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you live in the Deltona/Debary/Deland/OC area.

I enjoyed an after work meal with co-workers at Fujiyama after one of the co-workers raved about the place. We were able to be seated at a hibachi table pretty quickly. Service was very hospitable and friendly. I ordered sushi while others in my party ordered hibachi meals. My food was pretty average. Nothing to write home about. My coworkers felt their food was pretty average too. It's decent.

Went here for the first time Friday night, as expected it was busy being Friday & all. We opted to just get a table as opposed to waiting for the hibachi, as there was no wait for a table. What a mistake... My thinking is always this...if your place of business can hold 200 people then it should be able to serve 200 people effectively. The waitress was as sssslllllooooowwwww as can be and very inefficient, we didn't have silverware, I had to ask for straws, and an extra plate for my son and so on. The food wasn't anything better than what I've eaten in a mall food court. So the bad service and mediocre food will keep me away. I understand from the person who suggested this place to us that the sushi is fantastic, but I don't eat sushi so I will not go back.

My wife and I on vacation had just finished working out at the gym in the same plaza and were trying to decide where to go for dinner. I suggested Fujiyama's because it was right there and she was interested in a steak. Had never been there before but took the chance. Decor was very nice and restaurant very clean. We were promptly seated and opted for hibachi grill searing. Stephanie, our waitress was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We ordered dinners and the soft shell crab appetizer. I ordered the shrimp while the wife ordered her filet. Daniel the grill chef did an amazing job cooking our meal and providing the entertainment that comes with hibachi. Our dinners came with soup, salad, vegetables and fried rice. Everything tasted amazing. The shrimp was perfectly prepared and my wife's steak melted in our mouths. The creamy ginger salad dressing was so good my wide asked for a side with dinner to dip her steak in. The hot sake hit the spot for me rounding out my meal. Great place! Friendly staff and awesome food. Highly recommend!!

Sushi was good.. Waitress was very attentive and polite.. Price reasonable ..All in all a very good experience.... The only reason I didnt give it a five stars is presentation could have been better.. Looking forward to my next visit.. And I recommend this place..

I loveeee this place. Great sushi & the people that work there are ALWAYS nice, helpful and quick. I usually just get sushi (snow white roll or shrimp tempura roll) but I have also had the hibachi and it is delicious!! Fujiyama is consistently awesome!

I go to Fujiyama all the time for sushi! Best around Orange City. Service is great! Every once in a blue moon they have an "off" day, but who doesn't?!?

Love going here for some local sushi and the waiters are great. Only went to hibachi a couple times but it's the same thing as kobes, definitely worth it

I've had sushi from Publix that tasted better and was more creative than this place. The majority of the rolls have tempura (fried) shrimp in them, and the few that don't have random tempura flakes thrown into the roll. So if you are looking for a real sushi restaurant with creative tasty rolls that contain actual raw fish in it, this isn't the place for you. Even my spicy tuna roll (which I only ordered because I didn't want anything fried and I was limited on options) was HALF tempura flakes. It was like they just added them in there so they could take up space and use less actual tuna. I also ordered a house salad with ginger dressing to start. The "salad" was a plate of lettuce and that's literally it. No tomato, cucumber, nothing but plain lettuce. The "ginger dressing" tasted like orange colored mayonnaise. Not the ginger dressing that is typically served. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of 1 is because of the service. My server was quick and friendly, didn't say much or suggest anything, but at least it was good service with a smile. Overall this place was probably the worst sushi restaurant I've ever been to and I will definitely not be back.

It's a bit better then the other local sushi joint. The decor is contemporary Asian and dark.. It's a big place with cool temperatures such I like.. Their prices are on point in most dishes there is a very small handful that are a but overpriced Food is good a little above average where they shine the most is their sushi is very good for the area we are in.. I recommend the jalapeño poppers they make and the dream rolls... Their spicy scallop is a great filler role for the price... Their shrimp fried rice with Japanese mayo is awesome!! I go there once every other month because I don't mind driving a bit more for better food but still say these guys are great... Would recommend anyone to go

Almost 4 stars, almost. The issues I had were really small nitpicks, and I should give it credit for serving decent sushi in Orange City. Pretty busy, but it was also a Saturday night. We sat at the sushi bar because the regular tables were full and we didn't want hibachi. Service was good all around. I ordered a shrimp teriyaki bento box and my dad got a sashimi sampler. Clear/onion soup (like what they serve at Kobe) tasted watered down and the only real flavor was when I bit into a piece of mushroom or onion. The ginger dressing was...different. It had a very mild ginger taste and was creamy, sort of reminded me of coleslaw dressing with a hint of ginger. Not bad, it was tasty, but definitely not what I'm used to at most other restaurants. The bento box is a great deal for all that you get. Soup, salad, 4 pc. california roll, 3 gyoza, a pile of teriyaki meat with steamed veggies and white rice, and a load of tempura. I got 3 tempura shrimp, 2-3 carrots or sweet potatoes, a zuchini, a broccoli and an onion ring, which at most places is an actual shrimp tempura dinner order, this was just a part of my bento box! The tempura was very well cooked, light and crispy but the shrimp and veggies were't overdone, and not greasy at all. The shrimp teriyaki was also cooked perfectly and the teriyaki was light, not sludge-thick, so it wasn't cloyingly-sweet. About the only thing I didn't like in the box were the gyoza - steamed, chicken, very little flavor and they were sort of limp. My dad's sashimi was a generous plate of almost too large slices of good looking fish. I did have a few gripes, mainly that they sliced the tuna so that when you bit into it you couldn't get a clean bite, you were biting into the grain. Also, the fish was served ice cold, and I believe it tastes better when slightly closer to room temperature. But the california roll, which I usually don't care for, was good and my father had no complaints of the other fish selections. All in all, decent sushi for being in a very non-sushi area. We'll definitely be back, because it's nice to have a good sushi place that's not all the way down in the Greater Orlando area.

Food drinks and sushi were very good as well as our server Bob who was very accommodating however the couple that own this restaurant especially the female was very rude when trying to rush us through our dinner when we had a table of 10 because she booked a party of 18 within a half hour after we arrived. She was persistent about rushing us from the moment we walked in the door and rudely approached our table as we were trying to enjoy our drinks and sushi. Needless to say you don't try and rush people out that are spending lots of money in your establishment. It might be a cold day in hell before we return.

I just got home from Fujiyama for my birthday dinner. I went with my mom and my boyfriend. I didn't even make it home before I got sick. We are ALL violently sick right now. We shared a spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and a crab roll. I called the manager and she told me that they sell a lot of that so basically it must not have been them that made us all randomly sick right after eating their food. This is the first thing my boyfriend and I have eaten all day. I have no allergies and I eat sushi quite often at places like Fishbones and Amura and have NEVER gotten sick before. What a way to celebrate my birthday... sitting on the bathroom floor next to the toilet not knowing which end needs it first (sorry for the graphics). Cheap sushi and poor customer service. Go ANYWHERE else!!!!!

I have been here several times with my family, and the majority of the time this place is very good. I have sat in a booth and at the hibachi table and at the sushi bar as well so I feel I have a pretty well-rounded experience. The sushi is good. Very fresh, tasty, but it's pricey compared to other places. I get the eel roll, generally. The hibachi is very yummy as well, but make sure you go during lunch time because dinner prices almost double the cost of the meal. I love the scallop hibachi best. I've also had the salmon bento box, which is delicious and very pretty. Who can resist bentos, really? Overall, this place is the best hibachi option for miles and miles, but it gets pricey if you go for dinner.

After hearing great things about Fujiyama, the hubs and I decided to take the ride over from Daytona for lunch. Our server, Carol, was very nice and attentive. Our drinks were never empty and she was knowledgeable about the menu, which, I appreciated since it was my first go. I ordered the Vegetable Hibachi lunch (broccoli, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, and onions) with noodles. I've never been to a Japanese restaurant before where I had the option to get a starch that was not rice. The onion soup was bland and tasteless. I ordered the Gyoza (pan seared pork dumplings) which were pretty good and they arrived quickly. The hubs ordered the Chicken Hibachi lunch with rice and he gave me his extra vegetables. He agreed with me that the onion soup wasn't good. Price-wise - Fujiyama is cheaper then other Japanese restaurants in Daytona, which, made the ride to Orange City not so bad. Atmosphere - the restaurant is beautiful; from the flooring, seating, and tables whomever designed the dining area did a wonderful job.

Shout out to the the chef and our waiter who did an awesome job of service and cooking the food to perfection, he was so entertaining and went even extra today for the kids at our table. I had steak and scallops cooked perfectly. Definitely a come back again should have come before.

Havn't tired the habachi but the sushi is quite good. The best in West Volusia by far and a away. Tuna Love Roll is good. The staff is a bit overwhelmed at times go off peak for best results but the food is good. Very popular with the dog and pony Kobe steak house show quite crowded on the weekend.

I'm not a fan of Asian foods, but I love their steak and chicken on the Hibatchi side. The waitresses and cooks are always nice, and the restaurant is clean and has a very nice atmosphere.

FOOD POSIONING!!! One star is too much. I've been there 3 times & have had a problem twice. 1st issue was they have a $10 coupon of purchase off $60 (b4 tax & tip) & our bill totaled $59.60 b4 tax. They would NOT honor coupon unles we purchased more. So got a $2 cup of coffee which turned out to be instant(yuck)! Then the third & very last trip we all got food poisoning!!!! We were there early on a Thursday & I got salmon & then everyone gets 2 shrimp. When they brought the cart out the smell of seafood was overwhelming. I wish I would of spoke up. Well they usually ask how I want my fish cooked & usually I ask for it really soft on the inside but this time he didn't. I get it that way cause I can never finish it & bring home to finish then not over cooked. So my point is I'm sure the chef knew & still severed us. We all were on the toliet within 5 mins of getting home. Not to mention the rats out back of the place. We will NOT b back !!

wow food was awesome and they entertain you while they cook in front of you. the only draw back is if you don't have a group they seat you with anybody to fill the space around the grill.
